Project Overview

"Saga of a Space Battleship" is a fan-created animation series based on the series Space Battleship Yamato from 1974. The series functions as a would be 4th series taking place approximately 30 years after the events of the film "Final Yamato." When an unknown enemy is woken and is dead set on destroying not only Earth, but every living being in existence, the Space Battleship Yamato and her crew the StarForce rises again to add a new chapter in her legend, where old characters and new fight for a new tomorrow.

This casting call is for Act 1 of the series which is the first 6 Episode. This call is for the main recurring cast throughout the series. The project will be animated, rendered, and composited all in Blender utilizing VRoid to create characters and clothing.

Kodai Susumu is one of the original heroes of the Space Battleship Yamato series and is a recurring character in Saga. He is considerably older than when we saw him last so he's much more tempered by age and the guidance of his wife and daughter, Kodai-Yuki Mori and Kodai Miyuki. He is approximately 50 years old in this tale and he must sound aged but not frail.

Yuki Mori is one of the original heroes of the Space Battleship Yamato series and is a recurring character in Saga. Yuki once served as the Radar Officer of the Yamato however, she is now the Captain of her own explorer class ship. However, her fate after the opening act is one of mystery and one of the key points behind the Saga story. Yuki is roughly 50 years old and is the wife of Kodai Susumu and mother to Miyuki. She is tough but gentle in her duties as a Captain, Wife, and Mother.

  • This is Captain Kodai, Captain of the EDF Explorer Vessel, Hijikata. This is an emergency message to EDF HQ, we’ve encountered a powerful entity that is in pursuit. We will attempt to escape, but if we’re unable, do NOT approach section seventeen of the Collision Galaxy!

  • If this message reaches EDF HQ, this next part is for my husband and daughter, Susumu Kodai and Miyuki. I am so sorry my darlings, I wasn’t able to keep my promise. Do not come looking for me. I love you both.

Sanada is one of the original heroes of the Space Battleship Yamato series and is a recurring character in Saga. Sanada functions as confidant to Kodai and functions as the Yamato's Executive Officer. He is extremely intelligent and isn't afraid to hide it. He often finds himself at the head of any and all scientific questions and analyses that comes the Yamato's way. He is approximately 60 years old.

  • Connection to Massachusetts established. The ship is in much worse condition than expected Captain. Getting her to detonate will be fairly simple.

  • O’Reilly, can you enhance your scan without them picking it up?

  • While the Yamato is in flight, we intend to detonate the Wave Motion engine of the only intact core of the Luna Defense Fleet. It is our hope that this distraction will be enough to allow Earth to open the Planetary Shield, allowing Yamato to Warp safely. Timing is critical in this operation.

Nanbu is one of the original heroes of the Space Battleship Yamato series and is a recurring character in Saga. He originally served on the Yamato as the Assistant Gunner, in charge of the ships defensive weaponry. He returns to the ship in his original job as this is where he excels. He's extremely professional but is somewhat of a second father figure to Miyuki. He is approximately 50 years old.

Tokugawa is one of the original heroes of the Space Battleship Yamato series and is a recurring character in Saga. Originally appearing as a young man originally Tokugawa is now a grown man and assumes the role of Chief Engineer of the Yamato, a position previously held by his Grandfather. He's extremely intelligent when it comes to mechanics and treats the Yamato with a reverence that would rival Jiro. He is approximately 40 years old.

Miyuki is the daughter of Yuki and Susumu Kodai, she is approximately 25 years old. Miyuki takes after her mother in beauty and intelligence but has a similar attitude of her father. Quick to act and isn't afraid to speak up to those around her with the exception of her own immediate family. She functions as the Yamato's Communication Officer being personally trained by Aihara, the former Communication Officer.

Flyboy acts as the Commander of the Air Group (CAG) for the Yamato. He's extremely cocky and often likes to joke around regardless of how serious the situation is. However, he's quick to defend anyone whom he perceives as a friend and quickly attacks those he regards as a foe. He is 30 years old during the events of the Saga story. He is a recurring character.

Jiro is an original character from the Space Battleship Yamato series, he was seen as a young boy there but in this series he is a full grown man. Jiro assumes the role of the Chief Navigator of the Yamato, filling in his older brother Daisuke's shoes. He is fiercely loyal to the Kodai family and is considered to be a brother of Miyuki. He is approximately 35 years old. He is one of the recurring characters of the Saga story.

Sanford "Ghost" Williams is the Commander of the Space Marines assigned to the Yamato. He is loyal to Captain Kodai and his family above all with the exception of the Yamato herself. He is quick to act though he is a brilliant tactician. He won't rest until he's completed his objective or dies trying. He is approximately 30 years old and speaks with a Southern accent specifically from the Georgia region of Earth. He is a recurring character throughout the Saga story.

Rabbit is the Black Tigers 2nd in Command, making sure that all of the pilots needs and repairs are met by the deck gang. She is 30 years old, despite being older than Flyboy, she respects him as a leader and will follow him anywhere. She acts as his confidant and friend, often getting him out of situations he sometimes creates.
